About the Event
World Oceans Day 2024 introduces the multi-year theme: “Catalysing Action for Our Ocean & Climate,” emphasising the need for both global and local actions to ensure a healthier ocean and climate.
In Nigeria, the theme underscores the urgent need for effective advocacy and robust policy frameworks to address ocean health and climate change.
To celebrate World Oceans Day 2024, the Lekan Bakare Foundation, in partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, organised a beach cleanup at Elegushi Beach, Lekki, on June 8, 2024, followed by a symposium on June 10, 2024, at the Rotunda Hall.
The United Nations World Oceans Day is an annual event celebrated on June 8th to raise awareness about the importance of oceans and the need to protect them
