Our

Memories

Here’s a collection of pictures from our various projects.

LBF Blue School Project

Blue School Advocacy: The Blue School Project educates primary and secondary school students about climate change, ocean literacy, SDGs, recycling, and environmental conservation. Through comprehensive lessons, engaging activities, and practical projects, the initiative nurtures environmentally aware and responsible young citizens. The project has reached over 16 schools, benefiting more than 4,000 students, who are now equipped to be ambassadors for environmental stewardship in their communities.

Street Advocacy

The Street Advocacy initiative is a dynamic program aimed at tackling waste dumping in oceans and other water bodies, focusing on Nigeria’s six coastal areas and extending to other states. This initiative educates traders, buyers, passersby, and local community members about recycling, effective waste management, environmental sustainability, and sustainable practices.

Beach Clean-Up

Pollution significantly threatens the beauty and biodiversity of our beaches. The Lekan Bakare Foundation addresses this issue through regular beach clean-up events, essential for rehabilitating coastal ecosystems, educating the public on sustainable practices, and removing harmful marine debris.

Coastal Plastic Search

The Plastic Search initiative is dedicated to tackling the pervasive problem of plastic pollution. Focused on removing plastic waste from waterways and preventing further contamination, this Seven – Day waterways cleanup initiative brings together over 500 committed volunteers for rigorous cleanup efforts.

Tree Planting

Expanding our Tree Planting initiative, we aim to scale up our efforts to restore degraded ecosystems and promote environmental sustainability, with a particular focus on schools and coastal regions.

Turtle Bae

Throughout the years, we’ve undertaken the rescue of sea turtles, which often fall victim to poachers while nesting along Lagos’ scenic coastline. These turtles are subsequently released back into the ocean.

Regrettably, some of these majestic creatures are unlawfully sold for various purposes. Given their endangered status, sea turtles are pivotal in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems. To address this pressing issue, we are establishing a Turtle Bae.

World Ocean Day 2024 Celebration

The Lekan Bakare Foundation, in collaboration with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, hosted a symposium for World Ocean Day 2024. The event focused on the protection of our blue planet and the safeguarding of marine biodiversity.
