SOLIDIFYING OUR COMMITMENT

Yesterday, we paid a heartfelt courtesy visit to the Nanti Primary School, an institution we have proudly adopted as part of our educational advocacy efforts.

This was not just a routine check-in on the wellbeing of the school and the pupils but marked an opportunity to further solidify our commitment to them, nurturing a safe and sustainable environment for them.

We engaged the students in environmental conservation efforts as they partook in a hands-on plastic recovery initiative, collecting discarded plastics around the school premises and depositing them into a specialized receptacle provided by the foundation. This activity goes beyond just keeping their surroundings clean; it is part of a broader environmental education program we’ve introduced, aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility in young minds.

Through these efforts, the Lekan Bakare Foundation remains committed to not only protecting life below water but also ensuring that the next generation is equipped with the tools and knowledge to carry the torch forward.

Army Children's Primary School, Dodan Barracks, Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos State

Our recent blue school advocacy initiative brought us to the Army’s Children’s School in Dodan Barracks, Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos state. During this visit, we conducted an educational session with the students, focusing on the rich marine biodiversity of Nigeria’s oceans and underscoring the importance of marine conservation.

Our visit was a significant step towards instilling a sense of environmental responsibility in the young students at the Army Children’s School. We eagerly anticipate our next engagement to continue this important work.

Anglican Primary School/Olofin Primary school, Akesan, Lagos

Inspired by Lori Desautels’ powerful words, “Inclusion is not a nicety, it is a necessity,” we launched another advocacy campaign, reaching two schools and igniting a passion for environmental awareness and responsibility in students and teachers alike. Through interactive sessions and engaging discussions, we showcased the benefits of eco-friendly practices and encouraged the school community to take action.

Together, we explored practical ways to reduce waste, conserve resources, and make a positive impact on our planet.

To instil global responsibility and awareness, we introduced the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the students. These universal goals serve as a blueprint for a better and more sustainable future.
